Taxation
Returns for individuals, businesses, trusts and estates, planning done while it can still change the answer, and representation when the IRS or a state tax office writes to you.
Start with what you're dealing with.
Most people call about one of these. Here is who picks each one up.
A notice from the IRS or the New Jersey Division of Taxation
We read it, tell you what it actually says, and respond for you. Audits, penalty notices, back filings and negotiations. Having a managing principal who is also a licensed attorney changes how we read the statute, and how the other side reads us.
Business and personal returns, planned before the year ends
Federal and New Jersey returns for individuals, partnerships, S-corps and C-corps, with planning done while there is still time to change the answer. We work closely with NJ Corporation Business Tax and the pass-through entity rules.
An estate or trust that now has to file
Estate and trust tax returns, and the planning around them, handled with the same people who do the family's personal returns. The CPA-and-attorney combination earns its keep here too.
What's included.
Take one piece or all of it. Every engagement starts with a conversation about what you actually need.
- Personal income tax
- Federal and state returns for individuals anywhere in the United States. For clients whose income moves around, we run projections so quarterly estimates are neither too high nor too low. We also prepare returns for U.S. citizens living overseas who still have to file here.
- Business income tax
- Federal and state returns for partnerships, S-corporations and C-corporations. Where we also keep the books, or you engage us for it, we work through year-end tax strategy with you while there is still time to act on it.
- Trusts and estates
- Fiduciary returns for trusts and estates, advice on how a trust is set up, and the ongoing filings for trusts already in place.
- State and local tax
- For e-commerce sellers and businesses with locations in more than one state, we track and handle what each state and locality requires.
- Sales and payroll tax
- We file the returns and send the payments on your behalf, monthly or quarterly, so the deadline is ours to watch.
- Representation
- Offers in compromise, IRS and state penalty relief, and installment agreements to resolve a balance due. We are selective about the offers we prepare, so the ones we file are worth filing.
- Audit defense
- Income, sales and withholding tax audits by the IRS or a state. We gather what the examiner needs from you and deal with the examiner directly.
Their legal and accounting knowledge "saved me money and grief, on two occasions." Responsive and patient.
Who handles it.
Tax controversy runs through Ryan Curran, a CPA and an attorney, with Andre Lynch. Returns and planning run through Anthony DeMarco.
The rest of the firm.
- AccountingBooks kept current, payroll and bills handled, and financial statements someone senior will explain. For companies that need more, the whole back office, run as a fractional CFO.
- Assurance & AdvisoryCompiled, reviewed and audited financial statements for the bank, bonding company, buyer or board that asked for them, from a dedicated assurance practice.
- ConsultingThe tax and accounting side of a business decision, worked out before you commit: forecasts, breakeven, entity structure, buyouts, sales and financing.
Tell us what you're dealing with.
Send the notice, the question or the spreadsheet. A principal reads it and gets back to you with what it means and what we'd do. The first conversation is free.
